Detailed Itinerary

DAY 01 :ZIWA RHINO SANCTUARY

After breakfast, we begin our panoramic drive northwards early morning through the famous Luwero Triangle, and on our way visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, starting to mark our list of the African Big 5 with the White Rhinos. Then continue and proceed to the Murchison falls National Park to track down the rest of the Big 5 family.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary is a collaborative effort between the Rhino Fund Uganda, a Ugandan NGO committed to the restoration of Uganda’s rhinoceros.
Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Big 5 member marked is the Restored White Rhino and then the rest of the family of the big Five to be tracked down in the mighty Murchison falls National Park. The sanctuary is home to Uganda’s Rhino reintroduction project and There are about 29 white rhinos and tracking is done on foot following their trails and this takes about 1 and half hours depending on their location. After our Rhino trek, We then drive to Masindi Town for lunch. Thereafter, we drive to Murchison Falls National Park and if time allows, we also visit the top of the falls before retreating to our accommodation for dinner and overnight.

DAY 02 : Murchison Falls National Park

First on the list, an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. This is a beautiful drive across Borassus Palm Forest and grassland savanna down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north to the Sudan and as you tick the checklist, look out for Elephants, Cape Buffaloes and Lions but within keep enjoying Rothschild’s Giraffe, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, Spotted Hyena. key to note: the African Leopards are rear but with luck you can have a spot on.
After lunch, we go for a boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, an experience not to be missed.!! Here you will see the River Nile said to be the Longest river in the world and it crushing through a narrow gorge and forming the magnificent Murchison Falls also marked as the strongest falls. While on the cruise you may see school of Hippos, Crocodiles, more Elephants, Waterbucks and Uganda Kobs among others. This is also the zone of many birds, with species like Goliath Heron, Egyptian Geese, Pelicans, Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Hornbill, Cormorant and the rare Shoebill stork.

DAY 03 : End of Safari and back to Kampala

What to Expect of The African Big 5 Safari Uganda.

The African Big 5 Safari begins and ends in the quiet lovely town of Entebbe/Kampala City. We will set out passing through the capital Kampala for an African city Experience and head towards the north-west of the capital passing through the famous 80’s war town, Luwero Triangle and stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary to track the first member of the Africa big five family as noted above, the White Rhino for about 1.5 hours or less on foot. You’ll make it in time for lunch in Masindi, a town close to the entrance of Murchison Falls National Park where we’ll spend the night.
The Morning of the second day of our Africa big 5 Safari day to catch the other 4 of the Africa big five game family. We head for an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the River Nile. Animals you may see include; Elephants, Lions, Cape buffalo, Rothchild’s Giraffe, Jackson’s Hartebeest, Waterbuck, Oribi, Bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, Spotted Hyena and if you are lucky, the Leopard.
After lunch, go for a Boat cruise to the bottom of the falls, an experience not to be missed!! Here you will see the River Nile said to be the Longest river in the world crush through a narrow gorge and forming the magnificent Murchison Falls.
While on the cruise you may see Hippos, Crocodiles, Elephants, Waterbuck and Uganda Kobs among others. This is also the zone of many birds, with species like Goliath Heron, Egyptian Geese, Pelicans, Bee-eaters, Kingfishers, Horn-bill, Cormorant and the rare Shoe-bill stork. We will head back to the lodge after exhausting our camera memories, draining our calories and using up all the day’s light – what an adventure – for a farewell dinner and the next morning head back to the capital to prepare your next trip back home.
